Prix de Lausanne 2024 Finalister

Lausanne, 2 February 2024: 20 candidates have been selected for the Finals of the Prix de Lausanne that will take place on Saturday 3 February at the Beaulieu Theatre in Lausanne, after a week of classes and coaching sessions.

The 86 candidates from all around the world have performed on the stage of the Beaulieu Theatre during the Selections that took place this Friday. During the week, they have rehearsed with prestigious professionals from the dance world. The 9 members of the jury observed the candidates throughout the week and today during the Selections, before indicating their final choices today at 7.15pm, following the Selections. On the stage of the Théâtre de Beaulieu, the young talents performed a classical and a contemporary variation, in the presence of a large audience.

The dancers' potential was assessed according to several factors: technical ease, artistic sense, ability to react to music and reproduce movements, among others. They had to master both traditional classical repertoire and contemporary creations by Cathy Marston, Jorma Elo, Christopher Wheeldon, and Young Creation Award 2023 winners Elena Dombrowski and Aleisha Walker.

The jury, composed of renowned personalities of the field and presided this year by Dame Darcey Bussell, has selected 20 Finalists of the Prix de Lausanne 2024:

The 20 selected candidates are from 11 different countries. The most represented ones are South Korea with 4 candidates and the United States and Japan with 3 candidates each.

The Finals will take place on Saturday 3 February at 2.30pm at the Beaulieu Theatre. It will be live streamed on ARTE Concert, Facebook, YouTube and the Prix de Lausanne website. The Prize Winners will be announced around 6pm. 9 Finalists will receive a scholarship and have the unique opportunity to choose among the most prominent ballet schools and companies in the world.
